Happy 2018! With the new year comes new books and movies. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I was pretty busy and distracted over the month of December, so I didn't read much or watch that many movies, but I have plenty movies on my list that I really want to see. My book list however, is slowly dwindling. So if you have any recommendations, I am all ears.
Shall we start with movies this time?
Since it was the holiday season, I watched a couple Christmas movies. My must watches for the season include Elf, Eloise at Christmastime (a children's movie, but I love it), and The Santa Clause. I did watch a movie that I had never seen before, Miracle on 34th Street. I'm sure most of you know what it's about and I found the movie to be rather charming. I think he was really Santa, because I am that person and can't help but believe in the magic of Christmas.
This is the only new movie I saw this month, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I will keep this spoiler free, in case you want to see it and haven't yet. I enjoyed the movie, but wouldn't say it was my favorite Star Wars movie. There were some parts that I felt didn't quite feel right or didn't fit in the movie. So much happened plot wise that I was a little confused. I would like to see it again since I know to expect and can focus more on the details and the characters instead of the plot. It seems to be an even split on whether people liked the movie or not. Like I said, I enjoyed it, but I think The Force Awakens was better.
I only finished one book this month (I am currently in the middle of A Dog's Purpose.) The Princess Diarist was a very interesting read for me. It's basically Carrie Fisher talking about what it was like working on Star Wars, dealing with the fame, how she thought about herself and how she felt about her fame. She also talks about her life in more recent years, when her fame sort of diminished and how she "dealt with," interacted with, and loved her fans. It’s interesting to read about what she experienced and even how she felt about herself. It was also interesting to to read about the opposite side of a fan meeting a celebrity. I would say if you enjoy the Star Wars movie or cast, or Carrie Fisher herself, this book would be a good read for you.
Like I said, it was a short list this month. Now that things have calmed down after the holidays I am hoping to read a bit more. If you're interested in seeing what I read and saw in the pervious month here is a link to November's blog post.
